One reason it feels rushed to me is because the girl's stories will take place over fewer episodes time. If the girl's stories were animated the regular way over twenty four episodes their stories would have built up over time and the first girl's story wouldn't have ended until maybe the fifth or sixth episode. I think it feels like more time is passing by when it's spread over more episodes.

Aside from that though it did seem like Haruka's story went too fast between the "getting closer" phase and the "hotel" phase. It's true that a lot of ren'ai game stories seem to have that part of the romance shortened. I've gone through a number of gaming stories where there was a long "association" phase when it really wasn't romance per se, but all things considered it did show that there were feelings there unexpressed. Personally though I'd rather have a more believable build up where all the phases show development. A lot of gaming romance stories are too short to be believable. Those stories don't properly show how the characters could have gotten close so quickly.

Some game stories try to get around writing long stories and increasing believability by having the girls already start the story being in some way close or sympathetic to the main character. But this wasn't possible for Haruka because she didn't know him at all by name when her story started.

I bet in the start of the next one we'll see Haruka walk by the main character in the hall, but they *won't* collide. Kind of slightly sad. I also wonder if he doesn't end up in a completely different profession depending on which girl he ends up with.

Yeah, I'm curious to see what the differences are too. I already know one way it was different with Tsukasa's (class rep). Someone said that watching Amagami, he could almost see the different decision points from the game. I'm sure a lot of the overlapping scenes will get excluded from the later arcs because they don't want to be repetitive. But it would be fun seeing at least a few of the overlapping parts to see the different ways the story could have gone. It looked like the fourth episode showed us a "Shopping with Rihoko" option. You probably had to choose that option in order to meet up with Haruka.

It's true this show is not deep, but it's interesting in this respect: unlike any other anime I can think of it cuts against the idea that there is "just one" person who is "right" for you. It seems to be more grounded in the idea that love is mostly caused by chance encounters and hormones.

Good point. I hadn't thought of that.
